Below we have given directions to Cómpeta by several routes.

To Cómpeta by Car

Coming from Málaga:

  • Take the Autovia del Mediterraneo direction Motril/Almería.
  • Take after Vélez Málaga/Torre del Mar the exit Algarrobo
  • Follow the winding mountain road (16 km, purple) to Cómpeta, passing the villages of Algarrobo and Sayalonga.

Coming from Granada/Motril:

  • Take the Autovia del Mediterraneo direction Málaga.
  • Take after Nerja/Frigiliana the exit Torrox/Cómpeta and follow the winding mountain road (16 km, pink) to Cómpeta.

To Cómpeta by air

The nearest airport is Málaga airport (a 1-hour drive away).

From Great Britain and Ireland, there are numerous budget flights to Málaga.

Almost all airlines and travel agencies in the United Kingdom offer budget flights to Málaga, so we personally do not book flights to Málaga.

From Málaga airport to Cómpeta

From Málaga airport, a bus service runs every half hour to the Central Bus station in Málaga (busline 19, €1 per person).

From the Central Busstation, a bus service runs to Cómpeta (Loymerbus, € 3.60 per person) with the following departure times:

  • Weekdays: 11.30 AM, 13.15 PM, and 18.30 PM.
  • Saturdays and public holidays: 13.15 PM and 18.30 PM.
  • Sundays: 10.30 AM and 20.15 PM.

Arriving late you may consider to take a taxi from Málaga airport to Cómpeta. If you reserve this through us our local taxidriver Cesario will be waiting for you in the arrival hall with a board with your name and the ride to Cómpeta will cost you €70 (max. 4 persons).

An airport taxi usually charges €85 to €90 for the same ride and a taxidriver from the airport doesn’t know his way in Cómpeta and usually leaves his passengers at the entrance of the village. Cesario will bring you directly to the right spot, halfway Cómpeta we have contact with him by mobile phone, so you can enter your apartment immediately upon arrival in Cómpeta.

If you prefer to travel independently you may consider renting a car.

With a car e.g. the Alhambra/Granada can be done as a 1-day excursion from Cómpeta. The car rental site: www.spanjeanders.123carrent.com has the lowest prices, almost always without own risk charges, no advance payments and no cancellation fees.

From the United Kingdom by car to Cómpeta

You may take a ferry to one of the French ports, for example, Calais. Ferries also sail between Plymouth and Santander (northern Spain) and between Portsmouth and Bilbao (northern Spain).

The distance from Calais to Cómpeta is approximately 2000 km (1250 miles), the distance from Santander and Bilbao to Cómpeta is approximately 1000 km (625 miles). The latter distance could be done within 1 day. The roads are excellent (in France ‘autoroute’; in Spain ‘autopista’), almost the entire route is four lanes. After Burgos, the roads are toll free.
