Cómpeta 1: Light Walk

Suitable for everybody in good health

You will cover from 6 km to 18 km a day. Walks range from 2 to 5 hours, depending on distance and terrain. You will climb a maximum of 400 meters a day. Training beforehand is not necessary.

Day 1: Arrival Cómpeta. We meet you at the bus stop and bring you to your accommodation. Orientation walk Cómpeta (1 hour) and time to explore the warren of alleys, the tapasbars, restaurants and terraces in the village.

Day 2: Circular walk above Cómpeta and Canillas de Albaida (2 hours). You leave the village and ascend through an old olive grove into the nature reserve to a height of 780 meters. Hence you descend gradually to the chapel of Santa Ana on top of Canillas de Albaida. Via a nice footpath you walk back to Cómpeta.

Day 3: Three villages circular walk Cómpeta (height 640 m) – Canillas de Albaida (height 580 m) – Archez (height 430 m) – Cómpeta (3 hours). You walk along terraces irrigated with an ingenious system which dates back to Moorish times where among other things avocados grow. You will have beautiful views of the sea and the Maroma (2067 m). In Archez the 13th century church tower is particular (built as minaret in the Moorish time). Via a nice path through the vineyards you walk back to Cómpeta.

Day 4: Circular walk Cómpeta – Inn Casa La Mina – Cómpeta, highest point 1040 m (4 hours). Passing the footballfield above the village the nature reserve begins. Through a wide path you walk slowly rising to a height of 1040 m at the ridge. At this point you’ve got beautiful views of the Almijara rugged mountains, the valley of the Rio Torrox, Frigiliana, Nerja and the coast. Via an exciting goattrack you walk down to the inn Casa de la Mina (height 860 m) which might be open. Along another route via the Puerto del Collado (height 890 m) you walk back to Cómpeta.

Day 5: Rest day or walk Salares – Cómpeta (4 hours). We bring you by Landrover to the departure at Salares (height 576 m). Via a beautiful trail through the nature reserve to will get to the Puerto de la Cruz del Muerto (height 870 m), then descend to the Rio Cajula (height 490 m) and ascend on the other side to Canillas de Albaida (height 580 m) and back to Cómpeta.

Day 6: Circular walk Rio Torrox (height 430 m) – Cerro Verde (height 780 m) – Acebuchal – Rio Torrox (3 ½ hours). We bring you by Landrover deep into the nature reserve and will pick you up after the walk. You walk on a narrow path along beautiful 2 peaks and then descend gradually to the old village Acebuchal that was deserted in the 1950’s but now is being restored.

Day 7: Walk Arroyo de los Pradillos (height 860 m) – Barranco Moreno (altitude 1100 m) – via muletrack back to Cómpeta (5 hours). We bring you by Landrover deep into the nature reserve. You will climb via a hidden path to the Barranco Moreno where it crosses the old muletrack to Granada. Along this muletrack with unparalleled views back to Cómpeta.

Day 8: Transfer to bus stop Cómpeta. This concludes the package.
